Beef & Mushroom Stromboli

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 lb cooked ground beef
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 onion, diced
  • 1/4 cup mushrooms
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • Pizza Dough (for 1 pizza)
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce (or jarred pasta sauce)
  • 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Dried parsley (optional)
  • Parmesan Cheese (optional)
  • Extra pizza sauce, for dipping (optional)

Instructions:

How to cook Beef & Mushroom Stromboli

  1. Heat oil in skillet, add onion and garlic.  Cook until translucent.
  2. Add in ground beef and mushrooms.  Heat thoroughly & set aside.
  3. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.  Line cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  4. Roll pizza dough out on parchment paper in rectangle.
  5. Spread sauce over most of dough, leaving a 2 inch strip unsauced.
  6. Top sauce with ground beef, mushroom, and onion mixture.
  7. Spinkle mozzarella cheese on top of ground beef mixture.
  8. Roll up like a jelly roll - lengthwise, fold the sides in as you go.
  9. Pinch stromboli shut.
  10. Brush the entire stromboli with egg wash.
  11. Cut slits in the top of the stromboli.
  12. Sprinkle parsley & parm cheese on top.
  13. Bake in lower 1/3  of the oven for 10-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  14. Remove from oven, and let cool ~5 minutes prior to slicing.
